Job Description

As a Technical Writer, you will work under the guidance of more senior employees to create and update technical product content for both internal and external audiences. You will be expected to pursue the necessary technical knowledge of the ExAM product suite from subject matter experts in product development, quality assurance, and professional services, and then translate this content into clear, concise, structured documentation. This means sometimes you are interviewing a SME, observing demos, or working in a pre-release environment to document something; sometimes you are editing contributed content from a product owner, quality assurance engineer, Sales or other SME. You will also fix, reorganize and update existing documentation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with our product team to learn our product suite, as well as work with the products hands-on while new features and revisions are in development.

  • Research our product suite by using available resources, attending product team meetings and having conversations with subject matter experts

  • Work directly with the product team to develop high quality internal documentation for new or updated tools and processes

  • Work with our quality assurance engineer during testing cycles to understand what post-deployment steps are needed for builds in order to create the product release notes

  • Edit and maintain our internal knowledge content site for the product team

  • Produce, as directed, needed documentation for end-user client implementations, developing methods to translate technical data and documentation to easy to understand, user-friendly written documentation

  • Review and gather feedback from clients about our documentation and services to improve client documentation delivery

  • Create graphical images, flow charts, and diagrams for inclusion in documentation

  • Support the Product Owner and team through all builds and launches as needed/tasked

  • Follow our style guide and processes to produce consistent documentation

Job Skills & Qualifications

 

  • Strong written communication skills including stellar grammar and proofreading skills

  • Ability to take in large quantities of complex and simple information and organize/distill in a way that’s useful for different audience types

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience developing technical or end-user documentation

  • Demonstrated ability to perform project management activities in an Agile environment, such as determining and coordinating  documentation user stories/tasks in conjunction with development and testing tasks, providing estimates, and general communication skills with the team

  • Desire to learn new skills and technology platforms

  • Comfort in using and learning in using digital tools (i.e. Hangouts, Slack, RingCentral, GoToMeeting etc.)

  • Reliable and secure equipment

  • Ability to be a part of a team, contribute to team goals and work independently as needed

Preferred:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, English or Communications field (or 3 years’ experience in a technical writing position)
  • Experience working with screen capture and diagramming tools
  • Experience working with Salesforce or cloud-based content delivery systems
